3 holy juju beans

"This was the fourth song I received," says Donna Williams.  "And it was at this point I knew the Musical project was more than just something fun to do with my nephews. This was serious music by real musicians and they would need a place to tell their stories.  So I started planning the website.

"Julia had taken these cartoon lyrics and made them into a beautiful song.  And then Mason added his hilarious animation, and gave us our first completed scene.  I was blown away by their talent."

bean counting

  • The tune is not played in the same order as the original song.  The lyrics about Rhett at the door seemed to fit the middle part of the tune the best, and Thalmend's ravings fit best with the opening.  So to tell the story, the parts had to be in reverse order.
  • Rhett and Link's faces are from photos of the guys at age fourteen, the age when they wrote the Gutless Wonders script.
  • Rhett and Link are wearing their initials on their shirts, as in Gutless Wonders: The Movie, the live action version of the script.
  • Julia E's picture is on the wall next to Rhett's appearance in the doorway.
  • The picture then changes to the words, "If you saw this, you are AWESOME!"
  • Animator Mason Eubank makes two cameos here, one as a live-action version of Link (note the 'L' on his shirt).  And as  the very animated Thelmend Thalmend.
  • Mason's chihuahua Rudy plays Tucker.
  • In the script, Link says "Tucker responds to ancient Indo-German commands," but since singer Julia is Swedish, the dog becomes Scandanavian in the Musical.
  • This scene marks the first appearance of the 555-5555 running phone gag.
  • In the Musical, newscaster Thelmend Thalmend's name only appears on a poster in this scene, and in the intro narration of Tucker's Amazing Ability.
  • Apparently, Thalmend won an Oscar.  And he appears to be going for his EGOT (Emmy Grammy Oscar Tony), according to the sign on his desk, "Reserve for more awards."
