word for word
For Gutless Wonders, musicians were to take their scene from the Rhett and Link script and turn it into a two-minute song. Perhaps because of a language barrier, perhaps because of a poorly communicating Communication Director (that's me), guitarist Camilo Carrasco embarked on a different project. He and fellow musician Nicolas Varrela set all the dialog of their scenes to music, broken up into two minute songs. The result is basically a mini rock opera. Every word from five scenes of the original script, turned into song.
It's excellent, and you can hear it all on the extended soundtrack, but it was too long to animate. The entire Musical is only 35 minutes. Camilo and Nicolas Varela produced 20 astounding minutes of original tunes. To get it ready for animation, Camilo graciously agreed to have his music edited. A portion of each of his songs has been included in the remixes. But you must hear (and download) the entire collection. The guitar work sets the tone for each scene and the guys deliver real humor and emotion throughout. You'll never read their scenes again without singing them. Without this glorious accident, Gutless Wonders would have only one original song, the song by committee. |
